Beatrice, Petunia and Gaston

Gaston, our proud and gentle sire, brings his strong genetics and calm demeanor to the herd. He’s the backbone of our Meishan pig family.  
Beatrice and Petunia, our two loving and dedicated mothers, each have their unique charm. Beatrice is the nurturing matriarch with a serene presence, while Petunia’s playful and curious nature keeps life lively on the farm.  
Together, this trio forms the foundation of our exceptional Meishan genetics, ensuring piglets that are as healthy, sweet-tempered, and unique as their parents.

A little history on Meishans

The Meishan pig is a rare and ancient breed, renowned for its distinctive wrinkled appearance, floppy ears, and calm temperament. Originating from China, the Meishan is celebrated for its exceptional mothering abilities, high fertility, and adaptability to various environments. Known for their friendly and docile nature, these pigs are a pleasure to work with, making them ideal for small farms and heritage breed enthusiasts. Their meat is just as delectable as their temperament and appearance; A deep marbled red, it will not disappoint in flavor no matter how you prepare it. As one of the oldest domesticated pig breeds in the world, the Meishan holds a special place in agricultural history and continues to captivate with its unique charm and importance in conservation efforts.

China released a limited number to the USA for various research studies such as their high yield litter counts (as they always have a stunning litter count!) and other fascinating and important genetics. After the studies concluded, they were released to various farms and people looking to preserve this breed. There are 3 main lines found in the United States, one each from the researchers, each having their own particular traits but always observing a gentle and loving demeanor, high yield liters and big floppy ears. As of 2024, they have been moved from critically endangered, to endangered. Although this breed is starting to thrive, we will continue to help this breed succeed, and look forward to helping you join this journey.

    Beatrice, a gentle and endearing Meishan pig, is the proud new mother of 14 adorable piglets. Known for her calm demeanor and newly founded nurturing instincts, Beatrice embodies the loving spirit of her breed, which hails from China and is celebrated for its maternal qualities, distinctive wrinkled skin and enormous floppy ears.

    Beatrice is not only a symbol of fertility but also a favorite among those who know her, thanks to her sweet personality and curious nature. She enjoys rooting around in search of treats, taking naps in cozy hay beds, and snacking on her favorites, like apples and carrots.

    Now a devoted mother, Beatrice is thriving in her role, tending to her piglets with care and attentiveness. Her journey into motherhood is a testament to the resilience and warmth that makes Meishan pigs so beloved. Beatrice’s family is sure to bring smiles and joy to all who meet them!

  • Meet Gaston

    Gaston is the heart and soul of our Meishan pig family. As the proud sire, he combines strength, intelligence, and an easygoing temperament that perfectly represents the Meishan breed. With his robust build and distinctive features, Gaston is not only a showstopper but also a gentle giant who loves a good belly rub and the occasional treat.

    He takes his role as the leader of the herd seriously, always keeping a watchful eye over his family. Gaston’s calm demeanor and friendly nature make him a joy to have on the farm and a cornerstone of our genetics program. His legacy lives on in every piglet he sires, ensuring the preservation of this ancient and remarkable breed.

    When he’s not busy being a superstar dad, Gaston enjoys sunbathing, leisurely strolls, and the occasional mud bath. He’s truly one-of-a-kind!

    Petunia is the epitome of Meishan elegance and strength. With her impressive build and signature physical traits—such as her wrinkled skin, long floppy ears, and short snout—she perfectly represents the best of this ancient breed. Her sturdy frame and commanding presence set her apart, making her a standout example of Meishan beauty and heritage.

    As a mother, Petunia is nurturing and attentive, passing on her exceptional genetics and calm temperament to her piglets. Her strong maternal instincts ensure that each of her piglets thrive and carry forward the legacy of this remarkable breed.

    Outside of motherhood, Petunia’s playful and curious nature shines through. Whether she’s exploring every corner of the pasture, investigating new sights and sounds, or delighting in a good mud bath, she brings an energy and joy that’s contagious. Her lively spirit and gentle demeanor make her a beloved member of our farm family and a true ambassador for the Meishan breed.
